Hello. My name is Chad Parker, and I have been a silversmith since the mid-90's. I do silver fabrication, which means cutting, shaping, and soldering. I have found that this process is more fulfilling to me than casting, which I have dabbled with. I initially got into this because of my interest in minerals and Geology. I have long been a rockhound. I believe the key to doing this well is mastering the soldering process.
I was also a long-time high school English teacher. I started teaching high school in 1991 and retired after 28 years. I began introducing metalsmithing to the high school students around 1996. In 2003, when we moved into a house that had the appropriate space to teach classes, I began teaching adults this skill. I generally have a couple of ongoing classes, usually on weeknights from 6 to 10 in Loveland, Colorado. If you are interested in joining one of these, contact me.
